Happy Halloween!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

No Power, No Cable

and terrific back pain!!!!

Ugh, and double UGH!!!

It's been a trying week. First off we were surprised, and not happily so, with an early winter storm, heavy heavy snow on still leaved trees which took down power lines everywhere!!! I need to get some pics as thosands of people in our small state were without power for days and that just really sucks!!!! Especially not having water. That is the worst!!!

Good news is most people in our area now have lights and we got our cable back today as well!!! Been without our evening shows and the internet for days now!!! Oh, the anxiety!!!

Then to top it all off, I've been dealing with sciatic pain all week and it's still hasn't let up. Off to bathe in very warm sudsy water and then rub down with Ben Gay and onto the heating pad!

So, just an update and here's hoping the worst is past!!!!

WILMA

Another hurricane and I hear tell that another is spawning somewhere out in the Atlantic as well. Recieved news that all of my husband's family down in Florida made it through, but haven't heard from my sister yet. I've tried calling but her line is busy so I am assuming they me be without power. I hope that is all.

Now, we will get the remnants of this storm, more wind, more rain and the roof will probably leak again!!! Oh well, could be worse I suspect.

Snow is in the coming forecast as well. Snow and I still need to get those dreaded snow tires on, ugh!

But, all else is well, can't complain and do hope that everyone got through Wilma ok with only minimal damage or better yet, none!

When it rains it pours, but...

So, we need a new roof, hasn't been leaking or anything, but it's getting old and needs to be replaced. And... we've been thinking about getting this done, but... because it's not leaking, don't fix what's broke right?

So, autumn, my favorite time of year and it's rained buckets for the past two weeks, although, I did see the sun poke through the clouds for a minute today! But, the other night, I noticed in Hannah's room that the ceiling/wall was wet, roof leaking!

So, we got an estimate for a new roof, not as bad as we thought and we are going to get it done.

Then today, I throw in a load of laundry, take Devon to school, come home and my bathroom and hallway is flooded! Washing machine overflowing, turned it off and it wouldn't stop filling with water! What a mess!!! Glad I wasn't gone for too long though. Called up a repair man, who came right off, what are the chances of that happening??? And... he got it fixed, all better now.

Let's hope this is the end of my house repair blues!

The good news is though, that my sister is getting married!!! Sometime next year. They haven't set a date yet, but this is exciting!!! Very exciting and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY for her and Randy!!

Congrats guys!

Something to be proud of

I don't usually blog about work or work stuff, but I had to brag a bit. I had my one year evaluation tonight and I recieved excellent in all areas. My boss also told me that she was quite proud to say that I was the only supervisor there that had respect of her staff. I was like, WOW!!!!

So, I have to say that I know for sure now, that I made the RIGHT decision to switch jobs a year ago. Long term care has always been my niche, I love the work and the stress of this job is so much different than the one that was killing me before! At least here I am appreciated, it gives me plenty of flexibility with family and home life and I even got another raise!!!!

The Lord does work in mysterious ways!!!

Courage and spunk

Did anyone hear about the 9 year old from CA that swam from Alcatraz to the San Fransisco Bay? I caught it on our local news yesterday morning while getting ready for work. I was awed and thought, what a wonderful thing for someone so young to do!

He swam almost a mile and half and raised 30,000 for the Katrina victims!!! What a great accomplishment for someone of such a young age and such a courageous act!

Things on my mind

I finally made my donations to the Red Cross today. One to the Katrina Fund and one to the National Disaster Fund. I've been so bad about getting this done and then with this latest disaster in Pakistan it made me realize, I hadn't done anything yet! So, that is done. It's not much, but it will help I am sure.

I'm worrying about my oldest brother these days and he's in my prayers alot! No, he's not sick or anything, Thank the Lord, but in other ways, many ways, he has a lot of other problems and I want him to see that family is important, HIS family. I want him to find a decent job and get his finances back in order. He's on the very edge of losing his vehicles and he just doesn't understand what kind of trouble he is in with his money situation. He doesn't drink or do drugs, but he's very immature and disabled with deafness and I don't think he fully understands things as he should and I think he often times is taken advantage of.

My prayer is for him to come to his family and ask for their help and then make a conscience effort to get his life back on track. So, that is my biggest prayer these days.

In other thoughts, I'm thinking about the holidays. I just LOVE the holidays and want to do something different this year and something cheaper! I am thinking books and homemade goodies for everyone! And of course, ornaments. I'm thinking apple pies and chocolate chip brownies with cream cheese filling. Easy and delicious!

Well, guess that is all there is to ponder at the moment!

Geannie, I sure hope you get your site back up and soon!!!
