Sir Elton John

So, I'm off to see Elton, live in concert right here in Vermont! I love his music and saw him and Billy Joel in concert together seven years ago in Montreal. A very dear friend and I, who saw him together last time, are heading out tonight to see him again.

The tickets sort of came to me unexpectedly. I bought tickets earlier this year to see Toby Keith in August then I heard about Elton, but soon realized it would be quite difficult and expensive to get tickets to see him so I didn't even really give it much more thought.

My boss had actually bought tickets to Elton, but planned to sell them on ebay for oodles of money. She had also purchased two tickets for another co-worker who had planned to actually go to the concert then decided nearly last minute she didn't want to go and just wanted to sell them for what she had paid for them. I overheard this conversation and was like, "You have tickets?" And she did, pretty decent seats too so I called my friend Val and said, "Hey, you want to go see Elton John again?" and she said, "You mean SIR Elton John." and I was like, "Oh, yeah, sorry, SIR Elton John now." and she said, "SURE!"

So, were off. I must say I really enjoyed him last time in concert and I especially LOVE him at the piano! And my boss never sold hers on ebay so she will be there as well.

We'll also get some shopping time in as we will be in the big B where there are lots of stores and I don't get out much these days, esp with gas prices the way they are. So we'll do some shopping, have some dinner and then go to the concert which is expected, by the way, to draw over 10,000 people! For little old Vermont at some fairgrounds, that is quite a crowd!

The girls survived camping in tents for almost an entire week. They got home Saturday and poor Hannah is still trying to catch up on her sleep! They had a really good time and it was good for them and us.

Today, the oldest one takes her first driving lesson with her instructor. I've never seen a kid SO excited to get her license. I don't remember being that excited about it, but she is. She's gotten to this point in her life that she CANNOT wait to spread her wings and fly. She is certainly independent and wants to excude her independence. Part of me is ready for that and another part is not.

I think I've raised a pretty good kid, she's headstrong for sure, but I can only hope and pray she always uses her sense and whatever mistakes she makes she will learn from them. I see a lot of myself in her, most of that is good, I think?

Night Out

So, I did something last night that I didn't think I would ever do and I really didn't want to do it, but thought it wouldn't hurt and would be a night out, which is RARE for me. So, I accepted an invitation to a "Passions" party, (sex toys and other misc things...) An old friend/ex co-worker, was having the party and she wanted me to go, said I didn't have to buy anything, just come the parties were LOTS of fun. So, I went and brought a friend along that really gets into that thing, thought she'd be good for moral support and explaining things to me...and it was actually pretty fun, minus some of the women there that seemed to be lacking in the sex dept because of lack of a partner, or whatever. They were getting a little crazy at times and I'm sure the mountain of jello shots being passed around contributed some to that.

I actually didn't find anything too grotesque, odd or strange, but did quietly wonder at times... "Why would you use that???" I did win the party game prize and I won't go into detail what the game was, it was good for a laugh or two, however. HA!

I enjoyed the munchies, had my diet coke and even placed an order at the end of the night! Nothing too kinky I assure you! One purchase was some hemp body lotion, sounded like good stuff. We'll see...

It was fun getting out for a night even though I had to work today, but now I'm free for the next two days and plan to do some shopping tomorrow with the kiddos and another old friend who doesn't get out much either!

As for hubby he never asked me a thing about the party, didn't even want to know what I bought! HMMMMM...maybe I'll have to surprise him!

In even BIGGER news...I now have two tickets to see him, in August.

We Had

a WONDERFUL time!!!

Our trip out west was grand!!! The best vacation I have ever had! It was fast paced, but a TON of fun. We covered almost 3700 miles AFTER we got to Vegas!

I LOVED Vegas and want to go back again someday, but not too sure about the plane ride. I may have to take some medication and a few stiff drinks for the next time!

Our flight out was eventful, an elderly man expired on the plane. We had just gotten airborne, only about 45 minutes into the flight and getting to cruising altitude when all of a sudden the stewardesses were calling for help, "Is there a doctor or a nurse on board???"

UGH, the most dreaded words of all time as I was holding onto the seat in front of me with my head down trying not to pass out myself! I was of NO help to this poor old man that wasn't breathing anymore!

Thankfully, my co-worker was able to help and there were also two other nurses on board as well, no doctors of course! Never around when you need them!

We had to make an emergency landing in Albany NY to get him and his poor wife off the plane. I'm sure he didn't make it despite the defibrillator attempts and CPR that was performed until emergency personal could take over. I was sure this was to be a BAD OMEN for the rest of our trip, but it wasn't.

We had a blast once we got there. Vegas is SO much fun! I told hubby we need to go back, just the two of us, and spend a long weekend, he said he'd rather spend a week at Yellowstone, UGH! I mean, I liked Yellowstone and all, but not a week of it!

We saw so many places, I especially enjoyed the Grand Canyon, AWESOME view!

South Dakota reminded me a little of Vermont, Keystone and the Black Hills area that is. Rolling mountains and pine trees. LOTS of Buffalo and Mt. Rushmore was great to visit. We also saw the incompleted Crazy Horse Monument, will be VERY cool when it's finally done.

Deadwood SD was neat, old time western town not far from Sturgis. I would have liked to have spent more time there as well. Mom won more cash at the slots there!

Sheridan and Cody Wyoming were historical, Cody especially. I became facinated with Buffalo Bill Cody and Calamity Jane!

From there it was off to Yellowstone, more buffalo and elk, deer, antelope, grizzly's etc etc - the buffalo were everywhere! The geysers and hot springs are neat, some very pretty, some very stinky of sulfur and then of course there was Old Faithful...

Gardiner MT was small, but quaint and then Jackson Hole Wyoming was very nice, romantic like, but not so much so with two kids and a mother along! Oh well, another time...

The Grand Tetons were spectacular and I loved Salt Lake City as well. The mountains around the city are beautiful and we even stopped off at Temple Square, quite a place.

Then it was back to Vegas and we stayed at Circus Circus the last night. The place is HUGE! Absolutely HUGE! We checked in and then couldn't find our room for like 20 minutes! It was across this casino, up these escalators, take these elevators to the 28th floor! Once there though and settled we had another fun evening. You can pretty much eat or gamble your way through that town and we aren't much for gambling so we hit the restaurants! The kids enjoyed their 3 acre adventure dome/amusement park, Mom enjoyed the slots and Andy crashed! (he did do most of the driving.)

Our friends we traveled with know Vegas well so it was fun to have our own personal tour guides to check out the strip, Freemont St. the Bellagio Fountains and MUCH much more!

Vegas Bound Baby!

So back on October 4, 2005 I blogged about this...

(way down at the bottom)
Vacation in

And in almost two years to the day we will be there!

Yahooo!

Bought our tickets last night and we are Vegas bound for September. Only we won't be spending all of our time in Vegas, but touring several states in the west including Arizona, Utah, Nebraska, Colorado and South Dakota! We can't wait!

And what I really can't wait to see...

Top 5 Reasons I Blog

Ok Randi, here you go...

1. It's a neat way to keep a journal of sorts even though I keep a more private one of my thoughts and everyday happenings on my night stand.

2. Because I always inspired to be a writer, but...

3. To share my thoughts on life, love, peace and my faith.

4. Self enrichment.

5. Because I simply enjoy it!

A very nice visit

with a VERY dear friend and her family.

We had a great weekend of shopping and visiting with Dodie and her family.

Dodie just completed her last radiation treatment for breast cancer and now she only has plans for getting on with her life! Praise the Lord! She ended up having a double masectomy, chemo and radiation to treat her type of breast cancer. She is doing well, positive as anyone could possibly be and just doing so well.

We had a great time visiting, eating and just talking. We are planning on all getting together again in June for a weekend of camping and relaxing!

How much

I don't get out anymore!

Whoa! Hubby and I went to my company's Christmas party last night and I know, your wondering, Christmas party in January? They've been doing it this way for several years now and they hold it on a Thursday night too! Makes it easier to plan I guess, not sure, but at any rate we went fully intending on only staying for the meal and then going home. Well turns out they served only appetizers this year and basically we all drank and danced! And I can't do that like I use too! UGH! We had fun though and the shrimp cocktail was fabulous!

We both had to work this morning too, double UGH! Now I know why I gave those days up long ago!!!

Happy Halloween!

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'

Courage and spunk

Did anyone hear about the 9 year old from CA that swam from Alcatraz to the San Fransisco Bay? I caught it on our local news yesterday morning while getting ready for work. I was awed and thought, what a wonderful thing for someone so young to do!

ba_swimmer_jrs01.jpg

He swam almost a mile and half and raised 30,000 for the Katrina victims!!! What a great accomplishment for someone of such a young age and such a courageous act!

Christmas Shopping has officially begun!

So, I've spent part of this morning looking online at some personalized Christmas ornaments and updated my wish list for the year! I LOVE ornaments and have started a bit of a tradition to buy them for everyone on my list every Christmas. Can't have too many ornaments right???

p117420b.jpg

I found ones for the new babies this year, the ornaments that are personalized and say "baby's first christmas" p81156b.jpg

All the kids on my list get one and then my sister and younger brother and his wife.

So, I've been having fun doing that! Course it's hot again, hot hot hot and I am not impressed with this weather especially given the fact that I am fighting off a nasty cold thanks to Hannah Banana. Oh, it's awful, but today I feel much better although I'm still sneezing some and coughing, but it's better!

I am also quite proud of myself this morning too. We had a leak in the bathroom that was ruining our kitchen ceiling. Plaster falling down and it didn't look good. This area is directly under our tub upstairs so I began to investigate yesterday while Hubby, who isn't much into home repair was at work. Well, first I called four different plumbing outfits and no one could come! Imagine that!!! Too busy they all said while in the meantime my kitchen ceiling is falling in! So, anyway, I called a friend, she's always done her own home repairs and she came over. We started checking things out and discovered that it was most likely the fact that my tub and shower tiles were leaking because all of the calking around it was loose and or missing. (My house is old btw) So, we started pulling things up, found out that sure enough water was getting behind the tiles and running down the wall and it was a mess. So, we spent the entire day fixing and repairing and this morning Dev gave it the first test, showered and no water in the kitchen ceiling!!!! YEAH!!!! Oh yeah, hubby was quite impressed too! LOL Course, I may have shot myself in the foot cuz next time something happens he'll just think I'll take care of it!!! LOL

Oh well, problem fixed for the moment, but I still want to do something better with it later on.

Well, guess that is enough rambling for one day. Hope everyone is having a great week!

A country ah-fair

We spent Saturday at the fair and had a really good time, but my goodness, it's not a cheap event! (Not that I'm cheap or anything??)

ferriswheel.jpg

The kids enjoyed the animal barn and petting zoo and I just adored some very pretty geese they had there. I so want one, but Andy said no!

(But I thought a couple of them would make such cute pets! Outside of course!)

The kids enjoyed the camel ride...

Then we ended the evening with an hour of Alan Jackson and his guitar! Fabulous show!

Halloween Costumes, Already???

Yes, that is right! I ordered Hannah's Halloween costume today from Disney. I asked her what she wanted to dress up as this Halloween and she said, "Tinkerbelle,"DSTINK1_P.jpg
so I found a costume on line and by ordering early saved 25%! So, good deal. Got all the accessories as well so she will be all set. Big sister said she would go as Wendy this year so that should be easy, just need to find a blue nightgown, some slippers and a blue ribbon for her hair. Maybe a book to carry too!

Let's see, it's been raining here all day, but I guess we need it. Would like to take the kids to the water park in NH on Friday, but afraid it looks like rain that day too, but keeping an eye on the weather for now. Hannah is anxious to go so I hope it turns out nice. We go there every year and are kind of late this year so hope we make it.

Well, nothing else too exciting happening at the moment. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Winnisquam NH

So we spent a few days in NH on Winnisquam Lake (Very near Squam Lake where On Golden Pond with Henry and Jane Fonda was filmed.) and it was a terrific time. We rented a little cabin right on the water, enjoyed swimming out to the dock, canoeing, paddle boating, just sitting by the water and the use of a big pontoon boat for one whole day.

Heather and her new boyfriend joined us on Friday. He's very nice and I am so happy for her!

We also took the kids to minature golf and bumper boat rides. It was a great time, so relaxing and I'm glad we went!

I did take a couple of hours on Saturday to drive to Pam's memorial service in Plymouth. It was a very nice service and it was good to see Val. I told her that we needed to get together for a visit, just the two of us, and very soon. She said most definitely!

A litte Beach House!
A little house built on a little island in the middle of the lake! I thought it was the cutest thing!!
